Vida PeralVida Peral began her dance
training and professional formation with the Ensemble Español Spanish
Dance Theatre, Chicago, under the
direction of Dame Libby Komaiko in 1976. During eight years with
this dance company performances included the Riverside Dance Festival, New
York with guest artist Bill Carter of American Ballet Theatre. She
also studied with such acclaimed American artists as Maria Alba, Manolo
Rivera, Victorio Korjhan, Edo and José Greco, who_s company she
performed with at the Joyce Theatre in New York City several years later. During eight years of
residency in Madrid, Vida continued her
studies in Flamenco, Classical Spanish Dance and Regional Dance with Ciro,
Güito, Manolete, Tomas de Madrid, Pedro Azorin and many others. She
performed with and was assistant to Paco Romero in Barcelona, principal
dancer in choreographies of José Granero in Palma de Mallorca,
partner and soloist in the flamenco program of José Miguel in Tokyo
and soloist in the award-winning children_s theatre production of _Van
Onder Uit de Zak_, Stella Den Haag. After 20 years, in 1996, Vida
was given a Bachelor of Arts degree by Northeastern Illinois University,
Chicago for her achievements within the field of Spanish Dance. During the last several years Vida has been dedicated to teaching, having been guest teacher at Centro Flamenco Puro, Utrecht, the World Music School, Amsterdam, Het Internationaal Danstheater, Amsterdam and has given several workshops in Europe and the United States, including Dusseldorf, Cologne, Freiburg, Oslo, Detroit, Milwaukee and Chicago. Ms. Peral was choreographer and soloist for the World Press Gala, Hilversum and G-Star Fashion Productions, Cologne. Her latest performances include _Show of the Year 2001_ Rene Froger, Ahoy Stadium and as Artistic Director of _Imagenes_ in Panama night club, Amsterdam. She is also featured on her husband_s three flamenco cd_s. (see Jacco Muller, flamenco guitarist). She established her professional base in Amsterdam where she has developed a strong following of students and gives classes to all levels, beginners to professional dancers and also to actors (ITS DNA, Amsterdam and Theatergroep MAX, Delft). She is currently organizing a workshop to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
